The demand for dedicated pickleball facilities continues to outpace supply. Across the country, municipalities and developers are investing millions in new court construction, converting aging tennis infrastructure, and building purpose-built pickleball complexes from the ground up.

Here are seven major projects currently under construction or recently announced for 2026.

1. Wayne Bunker Park - Las Vegas, NV (24 Courts)

The biggest project on this list is Las Vegas' $12 million pickleball complex at Wayne Bunker Park. Construction began in January 2026, and the facility will feature 24 lighted courts with fencing, shade structures, covered courts, seating, and restrooms. When complete (expected early 2027), it will be one of the largest dedicated pickleball facilities in the city.

The project received federal funding, signaling growing government recognition of pickleball infrastructure as a community priority.

2. Riverland Sports & Racquet Club - Port St. Lucie, FL (16 New Courts)

GL Homes announced a major eight-acre expansion of the Riverland Sports & Racquet Club on March 11, 2026. The expansion adds 16 new pickleball courts (eight covered, eight open-air), along with new tennis and bocce courts. Riverland already boasts the largest pickleball facility inside a gated community in the nation, and this expansion will push the total even higher.

3. Twin Lakes Park - Sarasota County, FL (6 Courts)

Construction is in full swing on six new lighted, dedicated pickleball courts at Twin Lakes Park in Sarasota County. The $1 million project broke ground in December 2025, with demolition of old infrastructure beginning in February 2026. The new courts will feature lighting for evening play - a major upgrade for the local pickleball community.

4. Ronald Foxworthy Campus - Sarasota County, FL (Renovations)

Also in Sarasota County, renovations and upgrades to pickleball courts at the Ronald Foxworthy Campus are wrapping up in March 2026. The improvements include new retaining walls, resurfaced courts, improved parking lot lighting, and new sidewalk construction. A ribbon-cutting for earlier phase improvements was held in September 2025.

5. Rosselli Park - Treasure Island, FL (6 Courts)

Construction is underway on six new pickleball courts at Rosselli Park in Treasure Island, FL, replacing older tennis courts. The project responds to strong community demand - local pickleballers had been requesting standalone courts for years, and the city budgeted funds for the conversion.

6. Vollmer Complex - LaSalle, Ontario (10 Courts)

North of the border, LaSalle Town Council awarded the construction contract for 10 new pickleball courts at the Vollmer Complex, with construction expected to begin in April 2026. The project includes washroom facilities and a new parking area. Council originally approved the project in September 2025 after strong community advocacy.

7. Morristown, TN (Court Conversions)

In Morristown, Tennessee, work is underway to convert existing sports court areas into dedicated pickleball courts. The city already has the Morristown Landing facility with indoor courts, and this outdoor expansion will give players more options. It's part of a broader national trend of communities repurposing underused tennis and multi-sport courts for pickleball.

The Bigger Picture

These seven projects represent a combined 68+ new courts coming online in 2026. But they're just the tip of the iceberg. Across the country, hundreds of similar projects are in various stages of planning, approval, and construction.

The common themes are clear:

  • Tennis-to-pickleball conversions are accelerating as demand shifts
  • Lighting is now standard - communities want courts usable into the evening
  • Shade and covered structures are becoming expected, especially in Sun Belt states
  • Federal and municipal funding is flowing to pickleball infrastructure (like the $12M Las Vegas project)
  • 55+ communities are leading the charge (Riverland's expansion targets active adults)
