FOUNDED 1980 — 45+ year old private racquet club PICKLEBALL IS PURELY SOCIAL: Friday evening BYOB sessions, beginners welcome with quick lessons, advanced players segregated to dedicated courts $10 SAME PRICE for members and non-members — egalitarian pricing for pickleball Tennis is the primary sport; pickleball is overlay programming when courts available Coordinator Sharon Tiahrt sends emails when all courts become available — text/email model for player notification Located behind Gardiner Furniture store on Baltimore National Pike (Route 40 — hence the '40 West' naming) Multiple naming variants: 40 West Racquet Club, Forty West Racquet Club, Forty West Tennis Club, 40 West Racquet Ball Club
