DEC 2019 PICKLEBALL ORIGIN: 3 tennis courts converted to 9 pickleball courts via Amarillo Pickleball Club fundraising + $20K Amarillo National Bank sponsorship CROSS-FENCED design with central social area is unusual park layout — encourages community between games MULTI-RACQUET facility with tennis + pickleball + PADEL (2 lighted padel courts) — padel is rare for Texas Panhandle WIND CHALLENGE: Amarillo's high winds are biggest pickleball obstacle — wind screens partially mitigate Indoor tennis can be used for pickleball for $2/player extra but requires BYO tape removal — kludgy but workable winter solution
