How Many Courts Do You Need for a Corporate Event?
Plan one court for every four people playing at the same time. A group of 40 where 75% play needs 8 courts if everyone plays at once, or 4 courts if the group rotates so half are on court while the rest socialize. Enter your numbers below.
4 courts needed
Suggested format: rotate in waves so about half the players are on court while the others eat, drink and socialize. Each player gets about 3 games in 120 minutes.
- 40 guests x 75% playing = 30 players.
- With rotation we assume about half of the players, 15, are on court at any moment while the rest socialize.
- 15 on court / 4 per court, rounded up = 4 courts.
- Assumptions: 4 people per court (doubles), about 20 minutes per game. These are planning assumptions, not venue figures.
Common questions
- How many people fit on one court?
- Four, in doubles. Both pickleball and padel are normally played with two players per side, so we use four people per court at a time.
- What if not everyone wants to play?
- Lower the share who will play. Guests who watch, eat or chat do not need a court, so a mixed group needs fewer courts than its headcount suggests.
- Should the group play all at once or rotate?
- All at once is simple and needs the most courts. Rotating in waves needs about half as many, and gives the rest of the group time to socialize.
- Does the calculator include coaching, food or space?
- No. It only counts courts. Ask the venue about instruction, food and drinks, and private use when you request a quote.
