CourtSource 2026 Top 100 Pickleball Clubs
Methodology and Editorial Basis
Press backgrounder for journalists covering CourtSource's 2026 ranking of the Top 100 Pickleball Clubs in America. This is separate from the CourtSource State Awards methodology, a different program with a different process.
What the ranking measures
The CourtSource 2026 Top 100 Pickleball Clubs is an editorial ranking of the clubs we believe deliver the best overall pickleball experience in the United States.
The ranking combines structured facility data with editorial review. Data determines which clubs qualify for consideration. CourtSource's rankings team then evaluates the complete player experience and determines the final order.
The data behind the ranking
CourtSource maintains a national directory of more than 18,300 published venues and 76,500 courts across all 50 states.
Each venue record includes structured information such as court count, indoor and outdoor courts, lighting, access type, surface, hours, pricing and amenities.
CourtSource uses that information to calculate CourtScore, a five-point composite measure based on four factors:
- Facility scale: Number of courts
- Playability: Indoor or outdoor play and lighting for evening use
- Access: How players gain access to courts and under what terms
- Amenities: Verified features such as restrooms, accessibility features and pro shops
CourtScore is applied consistently across the CourtSource directory and is independent of any commercial relationship with a venue.
How clubs qualified
To be considered, a venue had to contain enough verified information for a meaningful assessment, including a valid court count, an indoor or outdoor designation, and at least one additional data point such as hours, pricing or playing surface.
Venues also had to be active, currently open and operating under a legitimate facility name. Clubs that were not yet open or could not be verified were not eligible.
CourtScore was then used to identify and order the candidate pool from which the Top 100 was selected.
Independent verification
Every finalist was checked against sources outside CourtSource's own database before inclusion.
For multi-location operators, each location was verified against the operator's official website to confirm that the facility existed at the listed address and was operating. Locations that could not be independently confirmed were removed from consideration.
How the final order was determined
The final ranking is editorial rather than formulaic.
CourtScore measures the physical and operational attributes of a facility. The editorial review considers the broader experience of spending time at the club, including:
- Coaching, leagues and organized programming
- Food and beverage
- Locker rooms, recovery and fitness amenities
- Social spaces and overall environment
- Whether the club gives players a reason to stay beyond their scheduled match
When clubs were closely matched, greater weight was given to venues that created a more complete and compelling player experience.
What was excluded
Several types of venues were excluded because pickleball was not their primary focus or because they did not meet the standard of a dedicated club experience:
- General fitness facilities where pickleball is one amenity among many
- Golf and country clubs where pickleball is secondary to the primary club offering
- Gym-floor and portable-net setups
- Venues that had not yet opened
These exclusions were applied consistently across the candidate pool.
Editorial independence
No club paid for consideration, inclusion or placement in the ranking.
Sponsorship, advertising relationships and paid CourtSource subscriptions played no role in the rankings. Commercial status is not considered by the ranking process.
Limitations
The ranking reflects the judgment of CourtSource's editorial team and is not intended to represent the only possible ordering of America's leading pickleball clubs.
It is also limited to venues contained in the CourtSource directory with sufficient information to be evaluated.
The 2026 ranking reflects CourtSource's assessment as of August 2026. Court counts, amenities, ownership and other facility details can change, and the ranking will be updated annually.
The ranking covers venues in the United States only.
Corrections and inquiries
CourtSource welcomes corrections and updated facility information. Corrections are evaluated on their merits and are never conditioned on a commercial relationship.
